Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most acclaimed actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters but also fragile. Her father was an acclaimed playwright. However, Linney was raised as an all-only child by her single-mother and nurse. In the summer when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. In the two years following her graduation, she launched the beginning of her Broadway career. The following year, she began her career in the world of television. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows and stage shows since. Her nominations include three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her career. While she has received numerous awards through the years, performing is always her main interest.
